This vintage rug was handwoven by Rokia.
Rokia belongs to a female-only weaving association located a few kilometers north of the popular weaving town of Tazenakht.
This vintage piece consists of 100% live wool, which was carded, brushed and spun by the women of the association. The color palette is derived from organic spice blends such as saffron, florals and pomegranate skin.
Rokia designed this piece after being inspired by her surrounding landscape. For example, not only does this weave depict elk and deer that would often roam around her village but within the animal you'll see symbols of their skeletons which represent magic/medicinal properties in the Amazigh culture.
With proper care, this piece will continue to charm for many years to come.
