A vintage Bucky illustration from a 1966 homecoming pamphlet inspired this design, but a local legend inspired ETSU – a school not near the water – to choose a seafaring mascot. As the story goes, “Pirate Creek” is an underground river discovered near ETSU. Its tunnels, which once reached the Atlantic Ocean, attracted a notorious swashbuckler named Jean Paul LeBucque. The seafarer’s use of the tunnels as a safehaven were allegedly his demise – when geological shifts caused the tunnels to collapse, he didn’t survive. Products are mocked up on a size S. Graphics may appear smaller on larger sizes.
